Baban Mawr – Cabin Cwtch.
Baban Mawr are children usually between 14 months and 2 years who are walking and their base room is called Cabin Cwtch. The team in Baban Mawr work closely with Baban Bach and Plant Bach as they support a gentle transition through their group as the children grow.
Transition means the children take small steps to move groups, moving at their own pace which can mean spending an hour in the new group before returning to their original group, and then more as they settle. This can mean a baby is walking and wants to explore but when it comes to sleeptime, they are still happier in the cot rather than on toddler beds.
Baban Mawr create a day full of activities which all support their development based on the Early Childhood, Play, Learning & Care principles.
The children also access the outdoor areas regularly using the undercover decking area which looks out onto the bike track area, so they can watch the older children play. They venture out onto the bike track are as they becomes more confident ready for when they move up to Plant Bach.
Younger toddlers can be the most difficult to settle as they are very unsure about what is happening but we do find that once settled this age group really enjoys being in an environment surrounded by other children and can form some very close friendships.
